*PCA Skin Purifying Mask: PCA Skin is a purifying mask that will leave your face, neck, and chest well moisturized. My Favs from Beauty Fix.1

Quote: That which is striking and beautiful is not always good, but that which is good is always beautiful. ~Ninon de L'Enclos

As I promised, I am going to let you guys in some of the products that I really like and is actually using in addition to my daily skincare and beauty regime.

Here I go…
*SPARITUAL Instinctual Moisturizing Lotion: SPARITUAL lotion is an organic, vegan lotion that is made free from synthetic dyes, fragrance, parabens, and petrochemicals. Many of the ingredients used to compose this lotion is; boasting Organic Olives, Sesame, Soybean Oils, Aloe Vera, just to name a few. Always remember to read labels before purchasing and applying products to make sure you are not allergic to any of the ingredients. What I love about this lotion is that it is lightweight and absorbs quickly into the skin and does not leave a greasy film on the skin. The best part of the lotion is the scent. SPARITUAL Instinctual Moisturizing Lotion is infused with Ginger Essential Oils, and your skin is left with a fresh ginger smell.

*SPARITUAL Nail Liquor: SPARITUAL Nail Liquor to me is like salon nails in a bottle! This product is vegan as well and it is mad free from DBP, Formaldehyde, and Toluene (potentially harmful ingredients commonly used in nail polish). In addition, the bottles are made from recycled glass. This product is AMAZING. I polished my nails with a SPARITUAL Nail Liquor and the polish did not chip or fade after a two and a half week wear. I also love the smooth texture of the polish and the added shimmer it leaves on the nails. If you are a polish lover, this is a MUST BUY! There is a wide range of colors to choose from to fit your personal preference.

*SKINDINAVA Makeup Finishing Spray: SKINDINVIA Makeup Finishing Spray is definitely the product to use if you want to get a long-wear of your makeup without reapplying. SKINDIVINA is formulated high-tech ingredients that actually chill the temperature of your makeup. The key is to simply spray yourself a few times after you apply your makeup. This spray will keep everything in place from the foundation to the cheeks and eyes. This product can be used by all skin types and can be used over any makeup texture such as; creams, gels, and powders. This is great for the summer time and those who perspire in the face. No more worries, SKINDIVIA will keep the makeup from running, smearing, and melting off.

What Skin Type do you have?

Quote: Love of beauty is Taste. The creation of beauty is Art.- Ralph Waldo Emerson

In my previous blog I went over some basic tips in regards to skin care and some warnings against unhealthy skin. In this blog I would like to go over the different skin types. If you do not know what skin type you are or feel unsure on how to determine what skin type apply to you, this blog may have some answers to your questions or concerns.

*There are 5 basic skin care types: Oily, Combination, Sensitive, Dry, and Sun-Damaged. Your skin type is generally determined by how much or how little oil your skin produces. One’s diet, stress level, genes, medication, or even your daily skin care regime determines how much oil your skin produces.

*Oily: Oily skin tends to be shiny with enlarged pores. Oily skin can be prone to blackheads and blemishes. Also, a person with an oily skin type may experience some tightness in the skin.

*Combination/Normal: Combination/normal skin types have medium pores and a smooth and even texture. The circulation to the skin is good and the skin resembles a healthy color. People with combination/normal skin tend to experience dryness on the cheeks while being oily in the t-zone. You may be wondering where the t-zone is located on the face. The t-zone area on the face is the forehead, nose, and chin. They are the oiliest spots on the face and are where the most oil glands are stored. So if you sometimes wonder why the rest of your face is dry and your forehead, nose, and chin is shiny, there is nothing wrong with you, in fact it is absolutely normal.

*Sensitive: Sensitive skin tends to be thin and delicate with fine pores. Sensitive skin flushes easily and is prone to broken capillaries. This skin type is frequently allergic and can be rashy.
*Dry: Dry skin tends to feel tight, especially after cleansing. Dry skin has a tendency towards fine wrinkles. Skin may be flaky and may form red patches. In women of color, the skin may appear ashy or dull. This occurs when there is dead skin buildup.

*Aging or sun-damaged: Aging or sun-damaged skin may feel tight with visible wrinkles. The skin tone may be slack especially around the cheeks and jaw line. The texture of the skin can feel leathery and the skin capillaries are most likely broken.

*Here is quick and easy “skin test” to see which of the 5 skin types you possibly fall under…
Here it goes: Begin by washing your face and then gently pat it dry once the washing process is over. Then take a few pieces of rice paper. If that is not accessible to you, just use regular tissue paper. Press the tissue paper on different spots on your face. If your skin is oily, the tissue paper will stick and pick up the oily spots and become translucent. If the paper does not stick or pick up any oily spots, you have dry skin. If the tissue sticks in your t-zone area (forehead, nose, chin), then you have combination or “normal” skin. The majority of women usually have combination/normal skin.

Tips For Healthy Looking Skin

Quote: You don't love a woman because she is beautiful, she is beautiful because you love her. ~Author Unknown

*Skin care: anti-aging, firming, anti-winkles seems to be the main focus nowadays. People all over, both men and women are looking into the best skin care brands and products in efforts to finding the best skin care programs out there. Although it is important to take care of the skin and to keep the skin looking healthy and young as long as possible, the process can be extremely expensive especially during the economic times we are facing these days. I am going to inform you on a few tips that can help toward your skin care regime, as well as helping you save a buck or two.

*It is IMPORANT that you nourish your skin by eating the proper foods as well as giving your skin something to drink. Foods such as; fruits, veggies, low fat, wheat, grains, nuts, whole grains, you guys get my drift are great! Also, 8-10 classes of water DAILY will do the job. Experts say that it is essential to drink lots of water if you want to work toward healthy skin. By doing so, you will be maintaining the skin’s elasticity and suppleness. Here are some no no’s: coffee, caffeine beverages, and caffeinated sodas. Why you may ask? Well because caffeine is dehydrating and it will suck up the moisture out of your skin/pores. Just try sticking to sparkling water, mineral water, or plain ‘ole tap water. You may be wondering how will I find time to drink 8-10 classes of water a day. Here is what you can do, try carrying a 1liter water bottle with you where ever you may go, or just simply drink a glass or two during your meals. (Maybe even before your meals, that may help you to not over indulge.)

*The makeup you may be wearing can also be a cause of your not so healthy skin. So PLEASE consider the cosmetic products and brands you are using. Research the products to educate yourselves on what types of chemicals and ingredients are being used to formulate the products. Hence, don’t feel embarrassed or shy you ask a sales associate at a cosmetic store for ingredients and product info, it s their job to be knowledgeable of the products and brand in which they work for. (Trust me, I worked at a makeup counter before and is a current freelance makeup artist, being knowledgeable of the products you are using on your clients is crucial!) Your friend or family member may use a product that compliments their skin very well, and if you tried using those exact products you may break out, so knowledge of brands and products and skin types is a MUST!

*Be sure to properly clean your tools on a regular basis. Tools such as cosmetic brushes can get dirty and may carry all types of bacteria and germs that may cause skin irritations and breakouts. Many leading cosmetic experts suggest that brushes be cleaned thoroughly ATLEAST twice a month. Here is a little tip on how you can clean off your brushes: soak brushes for about 10 minutes in a dish of warm, soapy water (use a mild detergent of baby shampoo). Then rinse and blot excess moisture with a towel and strand the brushes with the handle end down in a tall glass until they are thoroughly dry.

*Keep the skin from absorbing environmental pollutants. A way to prevent this is by keeping the skin well moisturized, which acts as a skin barrier. CHECK LABELS for moisturizer products with added Vitamin A, C, and E. these vitamins help block the penetration of pollutants. Moreover, having a good exercise program such as aerobics can help activate and rejuvenate the skin. This also helps improve circulation and blood flow. You may not like to sweat, but body seat actually triggers production of sebum (the fatty secretion of the sebaceous glands) which is the skin’s own natural moisturizer.

*We all do this, but this can be a cause of unhealthy skin STRESS!!!! Skin conditions such as acne can be caused by stress and chronic skin conditions can worsen if you do not eliminate the STRESS out of your life!
